A VPS is a method of partitioning one physical server into multiple virtual servers so that each has the appearance and capabilities as if it were a dedicated machine. Virtual private servers bridge the gap between shared web hosting services and dedicated hosting services, giving independence from other customers of the server but at less cost than a physical dedicated server. Each VPS performs and executes exactly like a stand-alone server for its users and applications. And it can be rebooted independently, has its own root access, users, mail server, ftp server, IP addresses, memory, processes, files, applications, system libraries and configuration files. We will install any legal software you want on your VPS (except porn).

OverVolt "OpenVZ based VPS" uses LIVE memory for even your BURSTABLE memory. We don't use "page filing" (putting your memory on the hard drive which is somewhat slower). All of your VPS memory is live memory ready for your applications to use instantly, even your Burstable memory. Most other VPS systems servers use "page filing" which writes memory onto the server's hard drive. Using page filing can result in slowing down your applications. At OverVolt ALL of our VPS servers are much faster and un-crowded. That's just one of the reasons that make OverVolt a better choice for your website or development software.
